Thoughts and Feelings

SNOW FALL IS OUT!

If you’ve read my first post on andrewpfosterbooks or on my website andrewpfoster.com, you’ll know I have just launched SNOW FALL, a gripping, gritty urban thriller.

SNOW FALL is available exclusively on Amazon, as a paperback or ebook (just click on the title to go to Amazon!).

There are over one million ebooks on Kindle and over eight million print books on Amazon, so the choice is broad and deep and any single book is a needle in a haystack without some help — that means reviews. If you read and enjoy SNOW FALLplease review it on Amazon.

I’m hip-deep in the publishing world right now. It is really interesting, with so much information available so many actions to be taken each day. The publishing sector has been transformed over the past decade and what was an opaque old-boy network has been at least partly replaced by an open community of iconoclasts and non-conformers. Fun! I want to shout-out two great team players: my cover artist Sarah Brody and my editor C.B. Moore. Both of them incredible, talented responsive professionals.

Upcoming posts will include a deeper contextual discussion of SNOW FALL’s New York City and its Greed is Good era, followed by my thank you note to key writing influencers. Also on the way, some short posts featuring 80s music and photos. You might want to spend some time on the photos and videos already in my Gallery… Let me know if you have comments.

Talk soon. Meanwhile, be safe enough, Andy

Blast from the Past

Consider this post as a catchup call from an old friend, or an email outreach during the pandemic suggesting a Zoom with someone long gone from your life.

Thats what it is for me. This post reintroduces me to the writer I once was before decades of increasingly complex executive-level jobs, relentless (and wonderful) global travel as part of the art sector, deep and remarkable experiences as a father and husband… well, yes, life happened.

Life sent me on a long journey away from the days when I wrote, wrote for a living that included very little compensation but a lot of joy and satisfaction, back in the 70s and 80s in New York City.

While I would never give back a moment of the life I’ve lived since, I’m excited and proud to reenter the writer’s world. It is also a little scary! I know you’ll help me on this voyage.

SNOW FALL is Philip Sander’s story. The starting point is New York, Christmas, 1984. A volatile, jarring, complex, dangerous moment in the city’s long history, with two, not one but two, epidemics slowly building and impacting very different communities. And with people, as they always do, living for the moment, often oblivious to the bigger picture, the greater danger. Until it strikes them hard and tries to take them down. The action in SNOW FALL takes place over one month. Please note, this is a gritty thriller, with strong language and situations involving sex, violence and drugs.

Read more about SNOW FALL on the website or download the first five chapters from my Home page.

There will be 3 more Philip Sanders novels in the future, tracking New York as it continues to grow and change through the 90’s, the millennium/post 9/11, and the city’s difficult struggles during the financial crisis of 2008-2012. Philip’s challenges through those years will delve into and echo the city we know and the changes we’ve witnessed.

So, with my gratitude, accept this post as an introduction to the New York Quartet featuring Philip Sanders, with the first installment, SNOW FALL, coming to Amazon this June.

As we move through the launch, I’ll be posting more, expanding the 80’s NYC photo/video gallery on his site, and adding an 1984 playlist including some of the songs mentioned in SNOW FALL
